HRM Biodiversity

Dominique and Gretchen on Sep 06

This app would be a “citizen science” project where people could submit their GPS-linked observations and photos of plants and animals in HRM’s parks, trails and green spaces, and contribute to a database of biodiversity in HRM. It would be a learning opportunity for students and interested citizens (including visitors !) where even unidentified submissions could be shared and commented on. With the input from experts to confirm identifications, it would raise awareness and appreciation of our natural environment. It could also connect to other naturewatching databases (see for example www.facebook.com/HRMDiverse), and could contribute to education, scientific research and monitoring changes over the long-term.
