Halifax crime stats

Braden Daley on Sep 04

Using halifax.ca crime mapping data, create an app that allows users to look at recent crime data using mapping software. Users can see the location of the crime, when the crime took place, and also what type of crime took place. The purpose of this app is not to scare members of the community, but to educate and help reduce probabilities of future crime. For example, if a student sees that there have been a string of car break ins on his/her street, he/she will be less likely to leave his valuables in the car overnight, thus not attracting potentials thieves, etc. This app would also be helpful to visitors and tourists, who do not know the city well, and an see where typical crime hotspots are located during their visit. Overall, this app will help educate and aid in crime prevention.
